THE LAW READY FOR THE GUINEAS
Mogok's son, The Law, has passed his stiffest test to date to capture his third
race in a row, a merit rated 86 race at Clairwood over 1450m.
The smart performer has been confirmed as heading to the KZN Guineas by the
Herman Brown stable after the win.
Jockey Brandon Lerena was thrilled with the performance and declared that he
has picked his Guineas mount.
"There were a hard knocking bunch of horses in this race, and he was giving
weight to some them and they have run close to some of the best horses in the
country. He's improving this horse and Frank and I were just talking about the
Guineas and I think he's the horse I am going to ride in the Guineas,"
mentioned Lerena.
"We thought today would be his toughest task and he had to pass the test
today for us to run him the Guineas," mentioned Assistant Trainer, Frank
Robinson.
King Of The Tribe (Drier) broke sharply. Cyber Case (Charles Laird) and Irish
Affaire (Lunn) were in the early vanguard. The Law (Brown) and Norman Champion
(Howells) were racing after them by five lengths. King Of The Tribe was three
lengths clear at the 400m mark. King Of The Tribe was a length in front at the
200m pole as The Law made ground along the inside to threaten. The Law won going
away and he looks a top sort in the making as he won from King Of The Tribe
and Keen Warrior (Rivalland). The Law is by Mogok out of a Secret Prospector
mare, Queen's Right. Trainer: Herman Brown. Breeder: Scott Bros. Owners: Messrs
F Couturier, R Plersch and James Atkinson.
