Herman Brown
OFFICER OPENS HIS ACCOUNT
Herman Brown and Ryan Moore combined for their second win together in the
United Arab Emirates this year with recent purchase, Officer.
Officer became the first South African-trained winner at Abu Dhabi when winning
the 1600m mile handicap for Thoroughbreds under a fine front running ride from
Ryan Moore, while VIP's other jockey, Keagan Latham, completed a memorable night
for South Africa when winning the concluding 1600m handicap on Af Intekhab,
a stable companion of Dynamite.
He earlier won the his first Group 1 on the seven-year-old purebred arabian,
Dynamite, trained by Saifaldin Deeb.
An ecstatic Latham, who won the prestigious HH The President’s Cup, explained:
“I was happy to jump out in front and a bit surprised to be allowed to
set my own pace. He was always enjoying himself out there and I was able to
slow it down. Madjani loomed up going very well but my fellow has responded
every time I have asked him and I don’t think we were actually headed.“It
is a great thrill to win a race like this and hopefully I will be able to ride
him on world Cup night which would be a great privilege.”
