Jay Peg winning the Cape Guineas, Gr.1
JAY PEG MAKES HIS DUBAI DEBUT
Jay Peg makes his much anticipated international debut in Dubai when he runs
in the Al Rashidiya, a Group 3 event that is seen as one of the major carnival lead
up races to the Dubai Duty Free.
Jay Peg's trainer, Herman Brown, trained Linngari to victory in this event in
2006 and attempts to win the crown again with his new star. The former Basil
Marcus inmate has been off for a while but according to the Brown stable, he is
a big contender for honours.
This will be only the fifth year in which the Group 3 Al Rashidiya has been
contested over 1777m on the Nad Al Sheba turf. Jay Peg will be the only
penalised winner in five years of the event.
Jay Peg is a winner of 8 races in South Africa including 5 races in the trot
and he has won a total of four group races including two group 1's. He won the
Group 1 Cape Guineas and Group 1 Cape Derby. He was beaten only 2.9 lengths in
the Vodacom July at his last start.
VIP have 7 runners in total on the night and it looks to be another feast of
racing action from Dubai. The stable also has runners in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali
this weekend.

19:55, 1600M on the turf, drawn 4/15, Ryan Moore is riding.
Herman Comments: It’s a good race for him and he has a good draw, he has
been working well, the field is stronger than that of his previous run but he is
still expecting a good race.
Yorokobi is in the same race, drawn 8/15, Kegan is riding
Herman Comments: The horse is better than he has ever had him, it’s a
competitive field and he should run a good race.
Hard Top is in race 4 at 20:55, 2400M on the turf, drawn 6/16, Ryan is
riding.
Herman comments: We decided to run him back to back because he took the race
last week so well, he is hoping the race this week has a little more pace and if
it does then he is expecting the horse to run well.
Silverlord is in the same race, drawn 1/16 Richard Mullen is riding.
Jay Peg is running Thursday night at Nad Al Sheba, race 6 at 22:00,

Herman Comments: The horse is looking and working well, unfortunately he got
a bad draw and will be forced to ride off the pace again and hope that he runs
on from behind.
Jebel Ali Friday
Zorin is in the Jebel Ali Mile at 15:45, drawn 9/14, Ryan is riding.
Herman Comments: Looking and training well, the plan is to ride him from the
front this time because in his previous runs last year his best runs were from
the front. We are hoping that he will handle the Jebel Ali course and hoping for
some good feed back from Ryan on the horses future.
Abu Dhabi Sunday Night:
Officer is in race 5 at 20:00, 1600M on the turf, drawn 11/14, Ryan is
riding.
Herman Comments: Got a poor draw he looks well and has been working well,
blinkers have been put back on him at Ryan’s suggestion, if he can get across
from a wide gate with no problems he should run well.
