There's The Light wins again
DOUBLE FOR VIP, INCLUDING CLASS RECORD
There's The Light made it a double for VIP Thoroughreds on the competitive
Clairwood Sunday card when both There's The Light and National Command strode to
impressive victories for the Herman Brown Stable.
The talented Jallad filly, There's The Light, who was given enough time to
furnish into the product that she is today, broke the 1450m Clairwood class
record in her second career win. The Brandon Lerena ridden filly was placed
second in prime position thoroughout the race and by the 500m mark Lerena took
her out for a run and shook the filly up for an effort.
After looking like she would merely plod on in th final 400m, she changed
gears in the final 350m after Lerena brought the whip out to encourage her for
an effort. From the 400m mark for the next 200m she led the field but she seemed
to be headed at the 200m mark and looked defeated only to find a final burst to
hold off her opposition by a long head. This filly is growing in stature and
looks to be a nice type in the making.

Theres The Light is by Jallad out of a Grosvenor mare,
Sonic Light. Trainer: Herman Brown. Breeder: Mr K L Thomas. Owner: Mr R Plersch.

NATIONAL COMMAND, IN COMMAND
Lerena was also onboard National Command, whom he steered to victory in the
3rd race of the afternoon over the minimum trip. He won by a solid 1.75 lengths
carrying 58kgs.
Evolving Tactics (Bosch) responded smartly. National
Command (Brown) and Lemongrass (Roberts) were showing pace. Bachelor Boy (Brown)
and Maldini (Moore) were after them with a three length deficit. National
Command went past to take the lead 800m from home. National Command was a length
clear with 400m to go and he was going well from the field who were coming hard.
National Command was still a length clear 200m out and he kept going easily to
win well from Lemongrass and then came State Lottery (Kumaran Naidoo). National
Command is by National Assembly out of a Crystal De Roche mare, Queen Of Stars.
Trainer: Herman Brown. Breeder: Mrs P E T Schafer. Owners: Messrs R Plersch, T
Bowley and P A Rhodes.
