Blank Cheque wins easily at Clairwood
CLASSY BLANK CHEQUE BACK IN THE WINNERS BOX
Blank Cheque was rated by Herman Brown was a potential star in his early
career, however the talented went off his best. He was found to have a heart
irregularity and duly rest for over one year. He came back to his best in an
emphatic win at Clairwood on Wednesday.
Blank Cheque won his second race start by 7 lengths and looked like a star in
the making. He then went on to disappoint in his subsequent starts due to his
heart ailment which was no detected until after a string of disappointing
efforts.
He came back to his form over the 1450m Clairwood trip and he was ridden
impressively in this his second career win. Apprentice Lerena moved his mount up
to challenge at the 600m mark and he full of running from that point on. He
strode out freely over the final 400m showing signs of his return to his best
form.
"He was a top and had a heart strain and we are bringing him back
slowly. We believed in this horse and he is a top horse. Well done to the stable
and VIP Thoroughbreds for the patience and time with him," said Assistant
trainer, Frank Robinson from the Herman Brown yard.
Guitar Shark (Pappas) got a good start. Greek Hero (Goss) and Jumbo Jet
(Rivalland) were in touch. Blank Cheque (Brown) and Jurlshan (Drier) were
following them with a five length deficit. Blank Cheque took the lead at the
400m mark from Guitar Shark who fell away. Blank Cheque was three lengths clear
at the 200m pole and he won very easily galloping away as he stole a march
easily from Jurlshan and then came Catch The Crook (Dittmer). Blank Cheque is by
Rich Man's Gold out of a Kenmare mare, Kenmare Belle. Trainer: Herman Brown.
