SUN SHINES ON BALLITO BOY AGAIN

In the midst of the South African Summer season, the aptly named Ballito Boy kept his promise as a 2 year old and finally cracked his next career victory at Greyville on New Year's Day.

The talented sort, named after a sun drenched coastal resort town in Kwazulu Natal, promised much as a juvenile and was raced in higher divisions before taking out this much awaited win. He was 5th in the Group 1 Golden Horseshoe behind the talented Argonaut, so this win was definately not out of turn for the son of Kwazulu Natal stallion, Mogok.

Trained by Herman Brown and ridden by stable jockey Brandon Lerena, Ballito Boy, is part owned by VIP Thoroughbreds who have been having a storming run of success over the past month.

His dam being by the stamina laden sire Dolpour suggested that he might have stayed further than the sprint distances however he has found the shorter trips to his liking for now. This is also his second win over the 1000m trip, a distance assistant trainer, Frank Robinson, returned him to after campaigning over the extended sprint trips.
