MORE BROWN PURCHASES HEADED FOR DUBAI
Herman Brown has been on a spending spree of late and his latest aquisitions were from the Tattersalls October Sale that concluded at Newmarket in England last week.
With VIP Thoroughbreds bloodstock consultant Robert Harrison present, they purchased two colts, one by Medicean and the other by Danehill.
Grand Vista, by Danehill out of Revealing was a bargain buy by the standard of the sale at only 23 000 guineas. The miler has competed at Group 1 level and even though he didn't cover himself in glory at that level, he showed that there is plenty to work with for the future.
The French trained colt was owned by Khalid Abdulla and bred b y Juddemonte Farms. His record stands at 2 wins, 2 second and 2 thirds from 10 starts. He won his first two efforts before being stepped up to group racing.
Officer, a 3 year by Medicean, was the other purchase. His price tag of 110 guineas placed him as one of the targets of the sale but Brown outbid his rivals to land the talented colt. The ex-Sir Michael Stoute trained colt is a 2 time winner with 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 8 starts. He was owned and bred by Cheveley Park Stud.
"He is a big, beautiful horse, with scope for improvement. He's a nice buy," said Brown after the sale. He is half-brother to Appointed Day, a high-class over 1m in Japan at 2, Battle Chant, a smart 7-10f winner at 2-4, & 3yo winners Constitute (1m) & Matoaka (7f). His dam is a 1 mile turf stakes winner in US and a sister to high-class miler Emperor Jones from a good family.
